Review
Woah, I did not expect this soundtrack to sound like this! The main title theme is unique from the rest of the score, with its western twang that I’m sure anyone who has seen the show would recognize in an instant. I must confess, save a few episodes I caught years ago while a roommate was watching, I have not seen the show. Egregious, I know, as I hear it is incredible. After the main title theme, the score takes on a very ambient, atmospheric quality, leaning heavily on what sounds to be synthesized or electronic sounds and instruments. There are only a couple of tracks which increase in intensity, “Baby’s Coming” and “Aztek,” which introduce synth drums. If I were pressed to say what emotion or feel this score evokes, I would say foreboding, though even that is not overstated. Overall, this is a score I would listen to for atmosphere, and as such would be a great score to write to, if what I’m writing fits the mood.
