Tyler Bates & Joel J. Richard
Review
This score made me excited to see the film this weekend. It’s high tech with plenty of synth but still sounds orchestral. In style, it fits right in with the Bourne soundtracks. The punny track titles, like "Big Wick Energy" and "Of Mincing & Men," are a bonus. The rock track "I Would Die For You," performed by In This Moment, was a pleasant surprise and immediately made it onto my workout playlist. There’s a lot of variety here as well. "Stairs Arrival" has a strummed guitar with a Western sound, while later tracks take on a more solemn tone and fittingly add choir, as in the calmest track, "Helen A Handbasket". The tracks do blend together a bit as the score goes on, but who is at John Wick for the music anyway? Give it a listen when you need to stay awake on a Friday afternoon.
