Review
Stylistically, this score felt like a throwback at times and contemporary at others. John Williams brought back his classic style with his composition of the main theme, in the opening track “Obi-Wan.” Natalie Holt, however, brings sounds and styles that feel more contemporary, while maintaining the fingerprint of Williams’ style more or less throughout. That being said, there are moments that feel like they depart completely from Williams’ style, at least to my untrained ear. Then there are tracks like “Hold Hands” (one of my favorites) that feel very much like classic Williams. Overall, I enjoyed this score, and by itself I would rate it a little higher, though in the context of the Star Wars universe, it doesn’t come close to my favorite Star Wars scores.
