Review
I have to wonder if trumpets are used so effectively in boxing films as a vestige from the trumpets that called our ancestors to war. The orchestral elements Göransson brings to the vocal tracks blend perfectly. The trumpets in “Runnin’” really got me going… The piano and female vocals that open “Drago’s Walk Out” were unexpected but, man, what a dope track. The picked electric guitar motifs are really touching at the beginning and end of the album. Even the harp makes an appearance in “Family Visit.” This score is well crafted, inspiring, and delves into the soul with tracks like “Under Water” and “Yo? Is That a Yes?” Seeing Göransson is not scoring Creed III was disappointing; I have to believe he didn’t have time as he’s so popular now (deservedly so).
