Review
This two-season score is a much darker take than Season 1, as the show itself got much darker. The beautiful tracks remain but not nearly as many, and Korzeniowski gets away from the Thomas Newman-esque ability to make dark feelings from beautiful sounds, utilizing more dissonant sounds, nails-on-chalkboard strings, and cymbals to create the depressed soundscape. “The Master” is a neat sounding track with dueling strings but a dark ending. The album includes lots of waltzes, appropriate for the time and all quite beautiful. The sound effect incorporated into “Let It End” is a cool touch. Listen if you're feeling melancholic, but this one is best with select tracks pulled into their own playlist. Beauty is here, just harder to find amidst the darkness.
