Review
Orchestral in nature, this soundtrack has an uplifting adventurous tone that fits a world lost to time. It maintains the wondrous style that accompanies many other David Attenborough-narrated nature docs, and frequently evokes feelings of discovery and awe. Tracks like “Nanuqsaurus” introduce intense percussion and some ominous tones, leading me to believe they accompany scenes involving carnivores (the tracks are named after different dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, which I love). Hans Zimmer is credited on the epic main theme, which immediately drew me in, and composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman (who come from Zimmer’s Bleeding Fingers Music collective), carry on with an absolutely gorgeous score that truly captures the wonder of dinosaurs. The stunning arrangements of strings, drums, and motifs evoke an appropriately otherworldly feeling. With tender themes, epic moments, and occasional intensity, this music is conducive to creativity (I actually ended up working on one of my writing projects as I listened). It’s a soundtrack I look forward to revisiting!
