Review
I was a bit let down by Howard Shore’s main theme, but composer Bear McCreary does a good job with some of the other tracks. The soundtrack as a whole doesn’t come close to the quality of Howard Shore’s LOTR trilogy score, but there are definitely standout tracks like “Galadriel” and “Valinor” which have beautiful moments and are a good listen. This soundtrack does have elements which I loved (like the Celtic-sounding instruments in “Harfoot Life”) and tracks like “True Creation Requires Sacrifice” deserve a decent rating, but overall, it didn’t capture the same Middle Earth magic as the music of Peter Jackson’s trilogy.
