Review
As a casual Halo fan, I’ve played my fair share of the games, but I’ve never listened to any of the soundtracks in full. I have to say, I got chills when that now-iconic theme started playing in “Opening Suite.” If you listen closely, you can also hear the main theme in the synth-like sounds in the track “Ambient Wonder.” A track I wasn’t expecting (maybe because I have not played the first Halo game) was “Rock Anthem for Saving the World,” which sounds like, well, exactly what you’d think based on the title. I will say, this soundtrack definitely has more of an early 2000s sound to it, and I feel like I would probably enjoy soundtracks from the subsequent Halo games more. As a soundtrack, it wasn’t my favorite, BUT I feel it’s partially because it comes from a time before video game soundtracks became true contenders in the soundtrack world (in my humble opinion). However, this soundtrack did give us one of the most epic and iconic themes in gaming history, so I have to give it major props for that.
