Review
A mournful soundtrack with atmospheric qualities, 1883 is a good score if you like melancholic music and ambient strings. The string-heavy theme is solid and feels expansive. The following tracks like “Requiem” and “Unfinished Souls” are quite sorrowful in nature, with violin and cello that bring a desolate sound. The soundtrack evokes a sense of sad beauty with its soundscapes, which have minimalistic qualities at times. Some tracks are a bit more uplifting in tone, like “Riding Out,” and the track “Bandits” offers a bit of intensity, but this album definitely had a melancholic heaviness to it overall.
