Review

A decent follow-up to the Season 1 soundtrack, this score has some tragic and dark undertones to the sound. Like the first score, it features orchestra, lots of strings, and has some great tender tracks, like “I Can’t Lose You” and “The Night We Met;” the latter features a lovely violin motif. I was a big fan of the Crows’ theme from the Season 1 soundtrack, and was disappointed that it wasn’t used in more than a few tracks on this album. This score did introduce some intriguing new themes, as in “Shu Han,” and from the soundtrack alone, it seems clear that they’re expanding the world of Shadow and Bone. I appreciate the new themes but I think I prefer the Season 1 soundtrack slightly more.
